Professor Sebastian Hiller

Professor Sebastian Hiller is a distinguished structural biologist and biophysicist at the Biozentrum of the University of Basel.

His research focuses on the structure and function of proteins, their interactions, and the underlying molecular mechanisms using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and related techniques. He pioneered the discovery of gasdermin structure and pore formation and recently elucidated the structural basis of eukaryotic plasma membrane rupture by NINJ1 during programmed cell death.

Professor Hiller's contributions to the field have been widely recognized, earning him numerous prestigious awards, such as the EMBO Young Investigator Award and the ERC Starting Grant
